Growing up I loved art. I took every art class available and often found myself doodling in others. When applying for colleges and choosing a career path, Design was a no brainer! I graduated from Indiana University in 2010 with a B.S. in Informatics focusing on Fine Art. While at IU, I worked at The Indiana Daily Student. The experience was great. I learned things about design that no class could offer. Not only did I learn how to manage clients and their projects, I also learned the value of collaborating with other designers. You can always learn something new from someone else!
After graduation I moved to Denver, CO and got a job as a Graphic & Production Designer at FastSigns Downtown Denver. The thing I enjoyed most about this job was the opportunity to see my designs come to life! After doing the necessary design work on a project, I was also responsible for printing, laminating, trimming, and finishing each project. Working with a project from design to final product really helped me become even more detail-oriented in my design process.
In the summer of 2011, I was offered a job at The Hearld-Times as a Web Ad Designer. The Hearld-Times is part of a newspaper group owned by Schurz Communications. They own approximately 20 newspapers nationwide. I had the pleasure of designing static and flash ads for each of their websites.
While working at The Herald-Times I found myself wanting to get more involved in my community. I saw that the local soccer club was hiring a Community Soccer Program Manager, I have always loved sports and thought this would be a great opportunity to meet people and diversify my professional experience. Through my role with the Cutters Soccer Club, I made some invaluable connections which eventually led to me accepting a position at Indiana University.
I am always open to any freelance opportunities. If you are interested in working with me, please contact me, I would love to discuss your design needs.
